Rita Betti was born in Santa Ana, California in 1948, into a California family that traces its roots back to the 1800's. She has been writing for over 50 years, but has only recently began to publish. After the death of her husband of 36 years, Rita moved to Los Angeles to study screenwriting at Act One, a private institue for writers and film executives. She then went on to study film and media arts at Los Angeles Valley College. The wrote and produced several short films with a diverse group of filmmakers. In 2011 she moved back to Arizona, where she reconnected with her novelist side and published, "The Martyr" in 2014. She is currently working with FishGate Productions on developing "COPPER TOWN", a full-length feature film to be shot in Arizona. Rita has three books on Amazon: an historical novel, The Martyr and two children's picture books, The Great Meadow Mystery and Harold and The Drain Monster.

The martyr is a story inspired by the testimony of St Blandina and her last days of martyrdom in Lyons Gaul (177AD). The only information we have on her life is in regard to her final battle in the Roman arena. Author, Rita Betti, has woven St. Blandina's fictional journey from Parthia to Antioch to Ostia and finally to her last days in Gaul.
The story of Blandina could happen to anyone who trusts God in a dangerous and cruel world. And soon, we may all be called upon to suffer for our faith.
